Newry 13 - Strabane 6 | Sat 05th Nov 2005 | | Embarassing display where the forwards were poor and the backs were absolutely rubbish. We were in truth well beaten and got what we deserved from the game which was absolutely nothing.
Newry proved that training, organisation and playing to pre worked patterns which everyone understands will always succeed over a bunch of game sods with a questionable training paddock work ethic.
The fact that both Mitchie and myself scored 2 perfectly good tries which were not allowed should not taint anyones perspective on this match. i counted at least 4 try saving tackles from Ross, John, Maxie and some-one else when Newry were cutting us to shreads.
I enjoy tackling as much as anyone but being a tackling bag for an hour is no craic for anyone.
Anyway, no more ranting from me and one parting thought. Genuine good sides (not ones who just think they are good) look at themselves, examine where the problems are and work doubly hard to put them right. We are watching to see how you respond Strabane Firsts!
